Sentence Completion HE- 01

6.       D   Foreign technocrats were not good, so don’t invite them again. They must have done something to worsen the situation to earn this; they must have “exacerbated” the situation.

7.       D    The key word “though “indicates that the blank would be against “have certain characteristics in common” in meaning. The only such option is “diverse”.

8.       B    What do those people do?  They___ compliments so that they will be complimented twice. Now if they accept compliments why would anyone compliment them again?  So they must be “shrugging off” compliments.

9.       A    The key word here is “harbinger”, and the blank would be a synonym of this. The only such word available is “prophetic.”

10.       B    If the arms shipments continue, they won’t provide a chance to the combatants to re-evaluate their positions, since they will continue fighting. Hence it must be something of a break. Only the word “moratorium” clearly suggests this break.
